- A Deaf Mentor is a Deaf adult who is fluent in sign language, participates in Deaf Community events and has the ability to work with families and deaf/hard of hearing children to teach sign language. • The family and child have the positive adult role model who is Deaf • Support the Deaf child’s language development that ensures English literacy • Provide families with understanding of ASL, Deaf Culture and the Deaf Community
